He was born June 19, 1913, at Bemidji, the son of Nels and Elizabeth Lyons. He grew up and attended school in Bemidji and was a Bemidji police officer, had a grocery-confection store (St. John's Store), was a buttermaker, and, for 19 years, a press operator at Nu-Ply. He married Edith L. Hanson April 28, 1938, at Bemidji.
He is survived by his wife; a brother, Nels of Bemidji; a sister, Anna Irene Lyons of Bemidji.
