Jens "James" Cornelius was born in Nebraska to Ole (Ollie) and Mary From (Frohm). Ole, a Norwegian immigrant, and Mary, a native Nebraskan, were married in Washington County, Nebraska the year before he was born, he being their oldest known child.
Jens' mother died in 1910 when he was but a teen, and it seems he remained in Nebraska long enough to win the heart of Katherine Caroline Meyer, who was the daughter of German immigrants Paul Meyer and Emma Kellerman. Thus, the two of them were wed on June 6, 1923 in Washington County, Nebraska.
Sometime prior to 1930, James and Katherine relocated to Sonoma, California. Their daughter, Mary Katherine, was born in Sonoma, California on June 5, 1928, and she appears to have been their only child.
The Cornelius family permanently made their home in the city of Sonoma. Katherine's father apparently relocated with them sometimes after the death of his wife, Emma, and seems to have lived out his days with his daughter and her family.
James' father, Ole, was also living in Sonoma with his new wife, Kittie, where the two of them remained until their deaths. Younger brother, Merton and his family also moved to the area at a later date, though it seems that Merton and hos wife, Pearl, returned to Nebraska, both having passed away in the 1990's and interred together in Omaha.
