Rupert married Friedricka Schäfer at St. Paul's priesthouse on William Street in Mechanicville.
Friedricka bore Rupert three sons: Ludwig Alois, born 05 Oct 1903, Karl William, born 28 April 1907, and Albert Francis, born, 12 Oct 1915.
As a former corporal in the Austrian Army, Rupert instilled in his sons self-discipline and the value of hard work.
Rupert was trained in Austria to be a skilled cabinet maker and carpenter, however, he always desired to be a farmer. He bought a farm on upper Harris Avenue in Mechanicville and started the well-known Amann Truck Farm, famous for its vegetables and home made cheese.
- Rupert Amann, 80, resident of Mechanicville for more than 50 years, died at 4 a.m. today at his home in Ellsworth Ave. following a six months' illness.
Mr. Amann was born in Vorarlberg, Austria, and came to Mechanicville when he was a young man. He was employed at the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Mill for several years. He later took up farming. He was a member of St. Paul's Church.
Survivors are his wife the former Federica(sic) Schafer; three sons, Ludwig, Carl and Albert Amann, and two grandsons, Ludwig Amann Jr. and George Amann, all of this city.
The funeral in charge of John J. Ryan, will be held Monday at 9 a.m. at the home of his son, Ludwig Amann, 147 S. Second Ave., and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.

The funeral of Rupert Amann, this city, who died early Friday morning at his home after a long illness, was held at the home of his son, Ludwig Amann, 147 South Second Ave., today at 9 a.m. and later at St. Paul's Church, where a Requeim Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Hyson, OSA.
Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery. The bearers were Harry Sexton, Edward P. Holland, George Schafer, Leo Tinney, Con F. Green and George Myers.
