Young Benjamin Guthrie James was the victim of a flash flood on the evening of Sept. 9, 1933 in Littleton, Colorado. The same flood also killed his 86 year old grandmother, Elizabeth Jane (Gilcrest) James, widow of Benjamin F. James and mother of Benjamin's father Leroy G. James.
