Donald Earl O'Neal, 88, Confluence, died Aug. 30, 2013, in Henry Clay Villa, Markelysburg. He was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Revere, a son of Grant Arthur and Laura Irene O'Neal. His parents, first wife Claire, sister Gladys Talbert Bowser and a brother, Harry O'Neal, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Bowser) Koontz; daughter Connie Snyder and husband Dennis, Washington, Pa.; stepdaughters, Beverly Hall and husband Gerald, Confluence, and Sandra Everhart and husband Sylvester, Pinehurst, N.C.; grandsons, Scott and Brian Snyder; stepgrandchildren: Lisa Hall, Jennifer Lytle, Leslie O'Brien and Sean Everhart; great-grandchildren: Patrick, Morgan, Bailey and Jake Snyder; and stepgreat-grandchildren: Missoury and Dakota Lytle, Hattie, Kathryn and Sandi O'Brien, Matthew Tolson and Shane and Wesley Everhart; also nieces Judy Talbert and Diane Bender and nephew Allen Talbert. Don is an Army veteran of World War II and Korea and a member of the Christian Church of Uniontown and Ursina American Legion Post 946. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Confluence. He owned and operated an appliance and TV store in Greensburg for most of his working life. He was a devoted and loving husband and father who will be greatly missed. His care and compassion showed every day of his life. He enjoyed all the beauty that life had to offer from traveling across the U.S. and Canada in his camper. He loved fishing in Florida, where he was able to spend 29 winters, building and golfing. He always had time for family and friends and had a great sense of humor and an ornery streak right up to the end of his life. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. William Triebe officiating. Interment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown. Full military rites provided by the Somerset County Honor Guard. The family suggests memorial contributions to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Books for the blind, 4408 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213-4080, Heartland Hospice, 1590 N.
