She was the daughter of the late Ira E. and Mary Ellen Phillip Powell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Perry Gorman Powell; her second husband, Luke Pearson; three sons, Perry Junior powell, William Eugene Powell and Richard David Powell; a daughter, Nancy Powell Saulman; three brothers, Lester Powell, Ira Eugene Powell and Edgar Powell; and three sisters, Annie Kelly, Gladys Padgett and Dorothy Mayfield.
Eva was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church, and worked for many years at area hosiery mills. Eva was an avid quilter, and she shared her quilts with family and friends. To all of her family and friends, she was known as grandma. Eva is survived by two daughters, Betty Powell Henry of Morganton and Margaret Powell Baker of Conover; a brothers, James Vernon "Buck" Powell of Morganton; two sisters, Bennie Bailey of Glen Alpine and Inez Hemphill of Morganton; 18 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Buriel will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight, Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home, where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes before the funeral hour. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Betty Henry, 105 Perpons St., Morganton.
