Helena, OK. -- The funeral for Curtis Schmidt, 56, was Saturday at Timberlake High School Auditorium. The Rev. Brantley Tillery officiated. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery south of Helena, directed by Lanman Funeral Home. He died June 30, 2004 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, Enid, OK.

He was born June 15, 1948, in Enid, OK. to Noah Ivan and Lillian Faye Jantzen Schmidt. He graduated from Perry OK. High School in 1966 and from Jay's Truck Driving School of Springfield, MO., in 1986. He had completed various oil field related seminars and was an honor graduate of the U.S. Army Small Arms School. He had lived his entire life in northwest Oklahoma and made his home in Helena since 1987. He was a member of the National Guard in high school, then joined the army. He served two years in Germany as a mortar crewman in an armored company.

He married Coetta Kay Murrow June 9, 1979 in Alva, OK. He was a member of Helena United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of the home; three sons, Roy Glenn and Joel Glenn, both of Wichita, KS. and Scott Schmidt of Ringwood, OK.; three daughters, Dottie Sprague of Tahlequah, OK., Katie DeLeon of Mesquite, TX., and Amy Mayfield of Isabella, OK.; two brothers, Rusty of Wingo, KY., and Rocky of Waukomis, OK.; two sisters, Sandy Fitzsimmons of Cleo Springs, OK. and Penny Koehn of Sedilia, KY.; his parents of Sedilia, KY.; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by one son and one brother.
