Lucinda J. Higdon, wife of Josiah Higdon, died at her home Christmas morning at nine o'clock, following a week's illness with influenza. Last Thursday she developed pneumonia and on account of her weakened heart, it was feared she would not survive the illness. Despite all that could be done she became weaker and weaker, and the faint spark was stilled Tuesday morning.

Doubly sad is the fact that Mr. Higdon lies in another bed in the same home, very low as a result of the influenza, and his life is despaired of. He is eighty years of age, and the extremely aggravated attack of this disease had greatly weakened his vitality.

Mrs. I. Haley, mother of Mrs. Higdon, has been prostrated from the anxiety of her daughter's illness and subsequent death, and at present is quite ill. A number of relatives are here upon advise of the illness in the family, to lend their assistance. No funeral arrangements have as yet been formulated.

An obituary will be published in the next issue of The Sentinel. The family have the deep sympathies of the community in which they have made their home so many years, with the hope that Mr. Higdon and Mrs. Haley will recover from this illness.
