EMMA DEE DIXON, 97, of Memphis, died February 9, 2007.

Mrs. Dixon was a member of Everett Memorial Methodist Church for over 80 years, where she served as president of the Women's Society of Christian Service, a member of the Woodlawn Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star for 79 years, where she served as Worthy Matron in 1940, was active in the PTA at Lawler Elementary, where she served as president. She was retired from sales at Goldsmith's Department Store.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill Dee and Beedie Lavada Meeks; two brothers, Douglas and Earl Meeks; and her husband, Laurance A. Dixon. Mrs. Meeks is survived by her daughter, Merrell Bryant and husband Jerry of Jacksonville, AL; four grandchildren, Deborah Owens of Elizabethtown, KY, Greg Bryant and his wife Sabrina of Laurel, MS, Janet Kendrick of Watkinsville, GA, and Steve Bryant and his wife Laura of Laurel, MS; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters; five nephews, and one niece.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, February 17 at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with visitation from 12 p.m. until service time, with Reverend Dennis Neenan, Dr. M. Douglas Meeks, and Reverend John Meeks officiating. Pallbearers will be the grandsons and nephews. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to St. Matthew's Methodist Church.
