Duane Schrank passed away March 29, 2011 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 29, 1931 in Twin Falls to Arthur and Eva Gundersen Schrank.

Duane spent his early years in Twin Falls and Mackay, Idaho and graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1949. He attended Idaho State College (now Idaho State University) until his studies were interrupted by the Korean War. He enlisted in the Air Force and fought the "Battle of Great Falls" at Malmstrom Air Base in Montana. While stationed there he met Ruby Jefferson and they were married December 28, 1952 in White Sulphur Springs, Montana.

After his discharge from the Air Force, they lived for several years in Billings, Montana, where he became a journeyman sheet metal worker for Empire Heating and Cooling. They moved to Twin Falls in 1958 and Duane went to work with his father in Twin Falls Construction Company. He worked his way through the ranks, beginning as construction laborer, driving trucks, and operating heavy machinery before becoming the General Manager then, after his father's retirement, President and CEO until his own retirement.

Duane served many organizations as a volunteer and member of the Board of Directors, including the Idaho Associated General Contractors, Greater Twin Falls Area Chamber of Commerce, the Magic Valley United Way, Magic Valley Safe Kids Coalition, Magic Valley Community Concert Association. He served the Sawtooth Chapter of the American Red Cross in many capacities, including a term as Chapter Chairman and also served on several national committees. In his retirement, Duane became an avid golfer and continued to offer his time as a mentor and volunteer for elementary school reading programs.

He is survived by his wife Ruby, a son, Carl Schrank (Leticia Arriaga) of Riverdale, Utah; two Daughters, Nancy (Michael) Lidinsky of Meridian, Idaho, and Diane (Kenneth) Kephart of Billings, Montana; four grandchildren, Sara Kephart, Jason Kephart, Michael Lidinsky and Melissa Lidinsky; and a brother Douglas (Shirley) Schrank of Twin Falls.
