Obituary in The Record, Columbia, SC, 23 Feb 1934: Little Mountain - Funeral services for John J. Frick, 82, who was fatally injured near here yesterday afternoon when a tree which was being cut down fell on him, will be held at 4 o'clock this afternoon at St. Peter's Lutheran church at Piney Woods. The aged man lived for only a few hours after being struck by the tree which fell more suddenly than was expected as workmen were cutting it down. He died at his home. Surviving Mr. Frick are one brother and several nieces and nephews. He lived with Mrs. Gary Bickley, a niece, who kept house for him.
