Pawhuska resident Susan Louise Mundy ascended to heaven on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, while at the Tahlequah City Hospital for a surgical procedure. Susan was 72 years 3 months old.
Susan was born January 26, 1941, in Ponca City, the first daughter of Frantz Augustus and Eleanor (Esch) Fronkier. After marriage to James Barnard Mundy Sr. in 1959, she travelled and made her home as Jim worked various assignments for Western Geophysical: Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, and Utah. Settling in Houston, Susan set to raising her three children. She loved the Texas Gulf coast, West Texas, and all creatures. Susan's passion was her work as a Veterinary tech and admin. for Dr. A.L. Griffith and Dr. Wade Green. Her circle of friends and lifelong friends were forged during her days of adventure and service. She retired as a Veterinary Technician and moved to Missouri for several years before moving home to Pawhuska. Susan was named Star Woman " Mi-K'a-K'e " Buffalo Clan of the Ni-U-Ko'n-Ska, Tzi-Sho Grand Division. She dressed three children and three grandchildren for Pawhuska District I'n-Lo'n-Schka, the first Fronkier family to dance since her grandfather, James Fronkier danced Gray Horse District in 1905 of the last century. She was a member of the Immaculate conception Catholic Church. Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Frantz and Eleanor Fronkier, and a sister, Anne Thomas.
There will be a Rosary at 7 PM, Wednesday, May 15, held at McCartney's Johnson Funeral Home.
Mass will be held Thursday, May 16, 2013, 1:00 PM, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Father Chris Daigle will officiate. Interment will be in the Pawhuska City Cemetery. (Bigheart Times)
