Enlisted: Pvt., Co. G & F, 4th & 11th Florida Infantry. When: March 2, 1863; Where: Madison Co., FL.. Company Muster Rolls: Feb. to Dec. 1863 present. Wayside Hospital, Richmond, Va.. Admitted: June 10, 1864. Sent to Howard's Grove Hospital and died July 1864. Samuel S. Webb was born sometime in the 1820's and moved with family members from Georgia to Florida in the 1840's after Florida became a state. They settled is what was then known as the "Webb Landing" on the Suwanee River near Lee in Madison County, Florida. When the Civil War broke out, he enlisted in the Confederate Army enlisting in Captain Peek's Company [Bradford Light Infantry] Florida Volunteers, being assigned to Company F of the 4th Florida Battalion. The 4th Battalion Florida Infantry and the 2nd Battalion Florida later merged and became the 11th Regiment, Florida Infantry. He died in a military hospital and is interred in Oakwood Cemetery at Richmond, Virginia.
