William D. Munn was a son of Duncan and Catherine Jane (McDonald) Munn, and of Scottish descent. He emigrated from Canada to Michigan in 1892.

William married Mary B. Fraser on October 17, 1899 in Detroit, MI. One year later at the young age of 30, he tragically died of blood poisoning from an injury on his hand (shown in portrait). Mary married secondly to Fred B. Dibble in 1902, and they had one daughter, Ruth Helen Dibble.

William and Mary lived at 385 East Hancock Ave, Detroit, MI. His occupation was a Motorman in the City of Detroit.
