Edward Leroy "Roy" Bryant, age 75, died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at McLeod Hospice House. Interment will be 6:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19 in Mechanicsville Baptist Church Cemetery with Memorial services following in the Worship Center directed by Belk Funeral Home. Mr. Bryant was born in Darlington County, a resident of the Mechanicsville Community all his life. He was the son of the late James Alvin and Lucille Howle Bryant. He was a 1952 graduate of St. John's High School and a 1956 graduate of Clemson College. Mr. Bryant served his country with the United States Army and then with the National Guard. He was retired from SC Farm Bureau in 1991 as Communication Director and Safety Director. He was a farmer for many years and proprietor of Bryant's Berry Basket. Roy was an active member, former Sunday School teacher, former Choir Director, and Deacon Emeritus of Mechanicsville Baptist Church. He was a member of the C.O.O.T.S. men's group in Mechanicsville. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Joann Johnson Bryant; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Rene Bryant; Joe and Angie Bryant; all of Darlington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Lin Keesey of Lexington; Barbara and Mitch Huggins of Darlington.
