He settled in Byron Center in 1844. In 1847, in Mexican War, then Civl War-22nd Michigan Cavalary. 1865-Bought 2nd McKenney School & made a house of it. Born In New York, died in San Pablo, Oakland Co, California


David worked on the Erie Canal at the age of 16, the Canal opened in 1825
David also was in the Blackhawk War, Mexican War and the Cival War

David's wife died in 1857, and the following summer he with his sons, Daniel and David and sisters traveled by covered wagon to Kansas where they settled on a homestead. That year hot winds killed all the crops and they returned to the old home the following autumn. Part of the trip was made by ox teams.
