Longtime Miami resident, LuVerna Lucille Watterson left this world and entered into eternity on December 12, 2011 at her home in Miami, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years.
LuVerna was born February 2, 1918 to her parents Robert and Tena (Barlow) Able in Ottawa County.
LuVerna has lived all her life in the Miami area. She graduated from high school in Wyandotte, Oklahoma in 1935. She had been a vital part of the volunteering staff for the Integris Baptist Regional Health Center for over 17 years. LuVerna also volunteered for the Ottawa County Election Board with 20 years of service as well. She has been a longtime and faithful member of the Ottawa Baptist Indian Church and served her church family as secretary.
LuVerna has been a wonderful friend, neighbor and family member to everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Watterson of Miami, Oklahoma, daughter in law Melinda Watterson of Miami, Oklahoma and five grandchildren: Don and wife Debbie Lankford of Miami, Mark and wife Linda Lankford of Bentonville, AK, Tina and husband Truman Brady of Seneca, MO, Melissa and husband Dusty Bekemeier of Miami, OK and Juli and husband Jeff Ridgway of Norman, OK, ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
LuVerna is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Watterson (1997) and her son Charles Leon Watterson (2005).
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 16, 2011 at Ottawa Indian Baptist Church with Pastor Truman Brady officiating. Interment will follow at Ottawa Cemetery.
