Sylvia Margaret (Pfluger) Wolf, age 90, of River Falls, previously of Prescott, Wis., died Wednesday, March 20, at the Kinnic Health and Rehab Center in River Falls.

She was born on Oct. 26, 1922, in Trenton Township, to Everett and Laura (Carlson) Pfluger.

She married Laverne Wolf on Jan. 1, 1947. Together, they raised a family and farmed near Prescott from 1949 to 1985.

Sylvia was a very active member of St. John's United Church of Christ. She was involved in many church activities, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, choir, church organist, many board positions, and she especially enjoyed the annual German dinner. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, working on the County Government Days committee for many years, and was a member of the Past Presidents Club. Sylvia also volunteered at the Senior Center for a number of years. She enjoyed gardening and loved flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne, and siblings Ernest (Bill), Verna, Leland, and Lois.

Sylvia is survived by her children, Richard (Mary) Wolf of Menomonie, Ronald Wolf of River Falls, Sheryl (Dana) Turner of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Jason (Meredith), Jessica, Melanie, and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Blake and Carson; and sisters-in-law, Marlys Pfluger and Junia Wolf.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at St. Johns United Church of Christ, rural Prescott. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date.

Laverne B. Wolf, 73, of River Falls, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at the River Falls Area Hospital.

He was born March 5, 1925, in Oak Grove Township to Albert E. and Martha (Belter) Wolf. He was baptized, confirmed and a lifetime, devoted member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Oak Grove.

Entering the U.S. Navy in February of 1943, he served in the South Pacific until his Honorable Discharge in March of 1946.

He married Sylvia Pfluger Jan. 1, 1947.

They farmed in St. Croix and Pierce counties. They had three children: Richard, Ronald and Sheryl.
He joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1963, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Pierce County VFW and the Costello-Madsen American Legion Post 61, where he held numerous Post, County and District offices. He also served for many years on the Prescott School Board. He was a founding board member of the St. Croix Care Center and a member of many other civic organizations.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Albert and Martha Wolf; brother, Lewis Wolf; sisters, Lucille Mausolf and Lorraine Bredahl.

Surviving are: his wife Sylvia; brother, LeRoy Wolf of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; sister, LaVelle Wolf of River Falls; two sons, Richard and wife Mary of Menomonie, Ronald of River Falls; and a daughter, Sheryl and husband Dana Turner of Burnsville, Minn.; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, friends and other relatives.

Services were held Thursday, Feb. 11, at St. John's UCC, Oak Grove Township, Prescott. Burial was in Pine Glen Cemetery, Prescott.
