Virgil V. Holliday, 91, Holton, died Sunday , December 26, 1999, at a Holton nursing home. He was born April 8, 1908, in the Neuchatel community, the son of William and Hattie Rolfe Holliday and lived in Nemaha county before moving to Holton in 1941. He was a brick tender and worked in Lawrence and Topeka and also worked for Salts Masonry in Holton.
Mr. Holliday was a member of a bricklayers union in Topeka and had been an umpire for the Holton Youth Ball Association.
He married Blanche Williamson on August 18, 1928, in Onaga. She died April 14, 1993. Survivors include two sons, Merle Holliday, of Topeka and Richard Holliday, of Auburn, Nebraska; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Holton cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holton Youth Ball Association or the Jackson county nursing home, both in Holton, 66436.
