Sp. 4 Rodney G. Drake, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Drake of rural Clare was killed in an accident in Vietnam Jan. 12, 1967.
He was born at the Sycamore Municipal Hospital Jan. 25, 1945.
He attended Sycamore High School and graduated in 1964. He worked as a farmer after graduating.
He entered the service Oct. 21, 1965, from Local Board No. 118 in DeKalb.
Survivors include his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Betty) Hall, Mrs. Ernest (Doris) Sloniker and Mrs. Wiley (Nancy) Cockfield, all of Sycamore; five brothers, Albert, Eugene, Richard, David of rural Clare and Pvt. Gerald Drake, who is home on leave from Ft. Belvoir, Va.
He was preceded by a brother, Harold, and his grandparents.
Final services will be conducted at Coultrip Funeral Home with Chaplain Col. William A. Reed officiating, Friday at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery. Friends may call at the local funeral home Thursday evening from 7 to 9.
The military services and honor guard are from Fifth Army Headquarters.
