Matt E. Earnest, 19, passed away on Friday, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Matthew was born in Valdosta, Georgia on July 15, 1986 and was a 2004 graduate of Houston County High School where he served as President of the Student Council and Co-President of FBLA, and a member of BETA Club and Prayer Club. He was a sophomore at Georgia Southwestern State University where he was a member of Gamma Beta Mu, Gamma Beta Phi, ÒOÓ Team, and an R.A at the dormitory. In addition, he was a member of the Resident Hall Association. He was an active member of Living Hope Congregational Holiness Church. Survivors include his parents, Stewart and Elaine Earnest, Kathleen; sisters, Ashley Earnest, Americus; Kim Gibson, Columbus; brother, Ken Earnest, Columbus; grandmother, Anita Evans, Eastman; special friend, Lucille Gilliland, Bonaire; and several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Matthew died Friday afternoon wile driving his white 1999 Nissan Frontier. The accident happened about 4:45 p.m. about a mile west of U.S. 41. He is deeply missed.
