Motorcycle strikes, kills pedestrian:
Lake Station- 35 year old man died about 1:50am on 9.20.1979
when struck by a Motorcycle.
Wesley was walking about 175 feet west of New Jersey Street on 37th/Ave. when accident happened.
Police say he was hit by a Motorcycle Driven by (J.W.)24 years old of Hobart.
J.W. said Wesley just Suddenly appeared in the middle of the lane in front of him and he couldn't avoid hitting him.
Wesley was pronounced dead at the scene by the Deputy Coroner Richard Sanders.
Certificate of death says:
Laceration of aorta,heart,lungs,liver.
Due to: Blunt Force.
J.W. and his passenger(wife)were taken to Hobart St.Mary Medical center where they were treated for bruises and scrapes to the legs and arms and released.
Police said they are continuing their investigation and will present the case to the prosecutor's office for study of probable cause action on charges of causing a death while under the influence of intoxicating liquors.
