A prominent surgeon, aviator and businessman who established Phoenix Field in Fair Oaks. He was a founder and chief of staff at American River Hospital in Carmichael.

On Jan 17, 1964 while returning from a speaking engagement at a cancer convention, Dr. Blunden and his passenger Dr. Byron Hall died after the plane piloted by Dr. Blunden collided mid air with a training plane over the Malibu Canyon.
