Memorial services for Eugenia "Genie" Keathley Martin will be conducted from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains, 246 S. Church St. in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Martin died Thursday, Nov. 6. She was 78.

She was born June 4, 1925, in Tampa, Fla., to Norton Keathley and Alpha Riley. She was valedictorian of her high school, attended Florida State College for Women, and won a Latin Award and her American Legion Award. She married Wiley Martin in 1944. After World War II, they moved to California, where she attended the University of California at Berkeley.
She was an administrative secretary, working for public and private agencies until retiring in 1989, when they moved to Grass Valley. She was a fabric artist and homemaker. She was active in her church and community. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling and camping. She also enjoyed bridge and word games.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Wiley R. Martin; sons Wiley R. Martin Jr., and John Martin; daughters Ann Marie Woolley and Elizabeth "Izzy" Martin; sister, Isobel Harwell; brother, Miles Norton Keathley; grandchildren Erin, Becky, Wiley III, David, James, Kevin, Jake, Yara and Alia; and great-grandchildren Emma and Owen May.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Norton Keathley and Alpha Riley; and sisters Martha Lake, Edith Mason and Lois Wolf.
