Services are pending at this time.

John graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia and served in the National Guard. He began his long career in the furniture industry at his father's local furniture store, Mehornay Furniture.

He was chosen to join a select group of professionals with the Simmons Mattress Co., and this gave him the opportunity to enjoy much success in the wholesale furniture industry.

Over the past 43 years, he traveled many states and was proud of relationships and friendships with his many clients and associates. John will be most remembered by his frustrated comedy in the style of the famous Don Rickles. He loved to entertain all who would submit to his banter and good-natured abuse.

He will be missed by all who knew him, but never forgotten. His stories will live on in those who crossed his path.

Survivors are sisters Anne Wilson and husband Jim of Columbia, Mary Jane Bean and husband Carl of Christiansburg, Va., and Carolyn Roberts and husband Jeff of Columbia; nephews John Wilson and Stephen and David Roberts; nieces Beth Wilson and Jessica and Sarah Bean; and great-nephew Xavier Bean.
