Born Thursday, March 25, 1920 in the Moccasin Community of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Florence Bastin Reed. She was the widow of the late Edsil Joseph Fletcher, Jr. Mae was an active member of Stanford Baptist Church, and as a child, was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church. She worked as a CNA at Fort Logan Hospital for many years. She was known as "Nana" to many in the community.
Mae leaves behind one son, Joe Fletcher (Vickie) of Stanford; two daughters, Jane Ann Wilson and Florence Naylor (Richard) both of Stanford; one adopted daughter, Joy Martin of Smithfield, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Gladys Naylor.
A funeral service will be held 1:00 p. m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Fox Funeral Home with Rev. Max Hester officiating the service. Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
