Mrs. Janice Marie Lucas, 55, died Tuesday morning (August 27, 2013) at Appling Health Care System in Baxley after a sudden illness.
She was a native of Waycross, but she has lived the last 20 years in Baxley. Janice worked for the Ware County Sheriff's Office for 12 years and Ware County EMS for 28 years. She recently opened her own business, Sweet Pastimes, in Baxley. She was also a member of Deenwood Baptist Church.
She is the daughter of the late George Gillis and Mildred Carver Gillis Ruth.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Bashlor of Baxley; one son, Jason Dixon (wife Janice) of Hortense; two daughters, Haley Lamb (husband Tony) and Caitlyn Maxwell (husband Keith) both of Augusta; two grandchildren, Kali Clark and Matthew Dixon; one sister, Cathy Gardner (husband Dub) of Hazlehurst; one brother, Larry Gillis (wife Lavada) of Waycross; several nieces and nephews, Jacob Gardner, David Gardner (wife Stephanie), James Gardner (wife Candice), Linda Franklin (husband Derek) and Larry Gillis, Jr.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday (August 30, 2013) at Deenwood Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home.
Memorialization is by cremation.
