Melvin R. Caldwell, Sr. was born January 8, 1938 in W-S, NC to the late Delphis and Birdie Caldwell. He departed this earthly life August 22, 2013.

He was educated in the public school system, a retiree from the City of W-S, and a faithful member of First Waughtown Baptist Church where he was a member of the Deacon Board, Sunday school, and the 12noon Bible Study.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Audry Caldwell; his siblings, Delphis, Jr., Purvis, and Queen Esther; and his niece, Tina Caldwell.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 54 years, Clara Caldwell; four sons, Ronald (Yvonne) Johnson, Melvin (Sherie) Caldwell, Jr., Wayne Caldwell, and Anthony (Sabre) Caldwell; two daughters, Janine Roberts and Angelic (Lorenzer) Gardner; brother, Norman Caldwell; sisters-in-law, Belvia J. Caldwell, Pearline Caldwell, Delores Hayes, and Ann Caldwell; brothers-in-law, Charles Hayes and Calvin Hayes; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at First Waughtown Baptist Church with Reverend Dennis Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 12:20pm on Tuesday at the Church.
