GALESBURG - Madalyn W. Benson, 86, of 1400 E. Fremont St. died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Heartland Health Care Center.

Born Oct. 25, 1914, in Blandinsville to Ernest L. and Maud A. Diamond White, she married Leon E. Benson on Oct. 25, 1949, in Urbana. He died Feb. 8, 1990.

She also was preceded in death by one brother.

Surviving are one stepson, Warren ''Tim'' (and Carabeth) Benson of Galesburg; one stepgrandson; and one sister, Ina Westfall of Knoxville.

She worked as a secretary for attorneys Stewart, Naegel and West. She later worked for architects Scribbins, Feldmann, Klusmeyer and Mears.

She was a member of O.A.K.S.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home, where visitation will be one hour before services. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Galesburg.
