Delbert "Del" Stephani/Stephans was the son of Jacob Stephani (with an I).

On 15 Sep 1887, Delbert Stephan, age 22, married Francis Walthers, age 20, in Cook Co., IL (FS). She was the daughter of Augusta Walters/Walthers.

Estella Francis Stephans was born 7 Jan 1894 in Chicago to Dalbert Stephans, 29, born in Chicago and Estella Francis Walthers, 28, born in St. Joseph, MI. Cook Co., IL Birth Certificate (FS).

On the 1910 Chicago Ward 4, Cook Co., IL census, I found teamster Delbert Stephans, 44, IL born; wife of 23 years Stella Stephans, 43, Michigan born, had 4 kids, none living and mother in law Augusta Walters, 70, had 1 child, living, German born. All of their parents were both German born.

On the 1920 Chicago, Ward 4, Cook Co., IL census, I found automobile company chauffeur, Dell Stephans, 53, IL born and wife Francis Stephans, 53, MI born. His father was born in Germany and mom in Boston, Massachusetts. They lived at 2920 Princeton Avenue

Can't locate him on other 1870-1880 censuses, suspect he went by a hard to read or different name.

Illinois, Cook County Deaths, 1878-1922, Del Stephan (no I), certificate #29600, son of Jacob STEPHANI (with an I), "born in Germany, as was unnamed mother," husband of Francis Estella Stephan (no I), chauffeur, resided 2920 Princeton St., Chicago, buried Elmlawn (sic) Cemetery, in Chicago on 15 Dec 1922. Born 1 Jun 1866 and died 13 Dec 1922, both in in Chicago.

After he passed, his wife was on the 1930 Chicago, Cook Co., IL census: widow Frances Stephens, 62, with $3K in real estate, born in MI, dad in MI and mom in Germany, plus boarder Dubert Herbstred (or Halstead?), 60, born in Germany, like his parents. She owned and resided at 2920 Princeton Avenue.

Connected to Jacob Stephani, the right place and age. Jacob was the brother in law of Nancy Lederer Stephani, both buried at Rosehill Cemetery in Chicago. Two of Delbert's children, Bertha and Francis, are buried in Nancy's plot, along with Jacob.

Photo volunteer adds: the cemetery office says this is an unmarked grave.
