Sidney E. Creager, Sr., 97, a resident of The Village of Laurel Run, Fayetteville, PA and formerly of 153 N. Potomac Street, Waynesboro, died at 7:05 P.M., Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in the nursing home. Born November 25, 1915 in Mont Alto, PA, he was the son of the late Preston J. and Grace Mae (Dull) Creager. He was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area. Mr. Creager graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1935. He and his wife of over 46 years,Betty Marie (McCoy) Creager, were married on December 31, 1966. Mr. Creager moved to N. Potomac Street in the 1940's. Prior to World War II, Mr. Creager worked for Martz Plumbing. Following the war he worked as a machinist at Landis Machine Company, Waynesboro and as an inspector for Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, MD. Prior to his retirement on December 31, 1980, he was a machinist at Mack Truck in Hagerstown. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro, a social member of William Max McLaughlin V.F.W. Post #695, Waynesboro, U.A.W. #171, North Chapter #739 AARP, and the National AARP.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Sidney E. Creager, Jr. of Waynesboro, Rodney L. Creager of Waynesboro, and Gary L. Creager and his wife, Kitty of Rouzerville, PA; two step-children, Judith Dianna Barnhart of Cearfoss, MD and Robert E. Barkdoll of Greencastle; six grandchildren, Theresa, Rodney, Sahara, Justin, Adelle, and Jamie; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Mills of Quincy; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two step sons, Jeffery L. Barkdoll and William E. Barkdoll; two sisters, Frances Margaret Kauffman and Carolyn Creager; and one brother, Gerald Creager.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 30, 2013 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Rev. Mark Shover officiating. Burial will follow in Burns Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Friday morning, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Faith United Methodist Church, 104 N. Potomac Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268.
