Injuries At Work Fatal To Elmer L. Beatty, 33
Elmer L. Beatty, 33, of 207 Prospect Street, who was injured critically at his work as a locomotive crane oiler at Diamond Alkali Company's Chromate Plant, died at Lake County Memorial Hospital. The fatal accident occurred while Mr. Beatty was aiding the locomotive engineer in switching railroad cars.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Nixon Fuenral Home, where friends may call after 7 tonight and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. A. George Whiteman, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate at the rites.
Mr. Beatty had resided here since 1937. Born Feb. 14, 1918, he was a native of Auburn, Ind. On Aug. 31, 1940, he married Miss Jessie McCann in Angola, Ind. Before working at Diamond, he was employed for five years as a fireman on the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He attended the Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Kay and son, Bruce, at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Beatty of Auburn, Ind.; and four brothers, Charles of Miami, Fla., Robert of Kendallville, Ind., William of Battle Creek, Mich. and Gene of Auburn, Ind.
