Mr. Adler, son of the late Coleman E. Adler, was the founder of the Canal Street jewelry firm. He died at Ochsner Foundation Hospital following a brief illness. He was 68 at the time of his death.
Mr. Adler had been associated with Coleman E. Adler and Sons for about 50 years and was executive vice president of the company at the time of his death.
He was native of New Orleans, Mr. Adler was active in many civic and philanthropic organizations here. He received his education at Newman High School and Tulane University.
At the time of his death he was survived by his widow, Mrs. Fannie Krauss Adler: two daughters, Mrs. Jay Aronson and Mrs. Mitchell Chefitz of West Paterson, N.J.; one brother, Milton Adler; and one granddaughter.
Funeral services for Walter P. Adler were conducted at the funeral home of Tharp-Sontheimer, 4117 S. Claiborne Ave. Interment was in Metairie cemetery.
