Laura married Charles Pagel on April 6, 1969. They were blessed with two children, Geoffrey and Cynthia. Charles died on December 9, 1979. Cynthia died on April 29, 1995. Laura married Richard Manson on November 28, 1981.
Laura completed grades 1 through 8 at St. Peter's Lutheran School and grades 9 through 12 at Deshler Public High School. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a degree in Elementary Education. She was hired by the Cedar Rapids Community School District where she taught from 1969 to 2002. She returned as a paraprofessional from 2002 to 2010.
Laura was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a Red Hatter, member of Alpha Delta Kappa, member of a bible study group, loved scrapbooking and stamping and enjoyed cooking and baking. Her greatest love was spending time with her family.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1363 First Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, on February 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. There will be no internment. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that people make a donation in Laura's name to the American Cancer Society (http://www.cancer.org/) or Reading Is Fundamental (http://www.rif.org/).
