Delbert Foster, 79, of Rector died Sunday April 27, 2003, at the V.A. Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

He was born Sept. 27, 1923, in Clay County, the son of the late Marvin Foster and Ruth Edwards Foster Pruett.

He was a lifelong member of the community and was a farmer. He was a veteran of the Army and the Marines and was a member of Blue Cane General Baptist Church.

He married Juanita Horton on Nov. 3, 1949.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Troy Pruett; one daughter, Brenda Carol Foster on Oct. 7, 1967; and one sister, Jeanetta Keller in October 1999.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Dale Foster of Kennett and Michael Lynn and Pam Foster of Rector; four brothers, Marvin A. and Dorothy Foster of Kennett, Kenneth and Laura Foster of Rector, Jimmy and Juanita Pruett of Shelbyville, Ind., and Charles and Linda Pruett of McKinney, Texas; one sister, Mary Nell Bell of Senath; two grandchildren, Angie Beck and Jeff Foster; and two great-grandchildren, Amber Nicole Beck and Emma Elizabeth Foster.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday April 29, in Irby Funeral Home Chapel in Rector with Bro. James Henry Dortch officiating.

Burial was in Woodland Heights Cemetery in Rector with Irby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Dewey Shelton, Charles Smith, Leroy O'Neal, Jeff Beck, Roger Gregory and Randal Midkiff.

Honorary pallbearers were Robert Dickie, Harvey Faries and Charles Wright.
