JONES, JACKSON TIPTON - of Sweetwater, Tennessee, died August 27, 2013. He was predeceased by his Birmingham born and bred wife of 65 years, Sarah (Sally) Louise McKinnley Jones. Surviving him are his children, Sam and Dottie Jones, Lulie and Herbert Thomas, Laetitia (Tish) and Alex Rom-Roginski, Sarah Jones; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. He was a member of an old East Tennessee family through his predeceased parents, Mary Byrd Browder and Oliver King Jones, and predeceased brothers, Oliver King, Jr., and Newton Browder. He is survived by his 98 year old brother, John M. Arne of Greeneville.

Mr. Jones served his God through his extended service with First Presbyterian Church where he was named elder emeritus, his family through involvement with community affairs, and a proud recipient of the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America, and his country as a thrice combat wounded veteran of WWII while serving in the South Pacific as an infantryman for three years.

Visitation will be Friday, August 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church where the memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, the 31st, followed by additional visitation. In lieu of flowerss memorials are requested for Bachman Academy, 414 Brymer Creek Road, McDonald, Tennessee 37353.
