Mrs. Violet Thomas Strohl, 92, of South Avenue, Jim Thorpe, passed away Saturday, March 4, in the Hometown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hometown.
She retired after working for 17 years as a file clerk in the Recorder of Deeds office of the Carbon County Courthouse, Jim Thorpe.
Born in Hacklebernie, she was a daughter of the late Max and Florence (Cheese) Yeakel.
She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Jim Thorpe, where she was very active during most of her life. She was a choir member, a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Altar Guild-Vestry and the Daughters of the King. She also ran tours of the church.
The deceased was a member of American Legion Post 314, Lehighton.
She was a volunteer for the cancer fund raisers, and loved to spend time in her flower garden and especially enjoyed her roses.
Surviving are a son, David A. Thomas of Jim Thorpe; a daughter Cheryl, wife of Jack Hendricks of Nesquehoning; a brother, Albert Yeakel of Ocala, FL; four grandchildren, Danielle, Gretchen, Kristen and Nicholas; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Dillon.
She was predeceased by two husbands, William J. Thomas and Ernest R. Strohl; a daughter, Cynthia L. Thomas; and a sister, Lorraine Davis.
Interment, Evergreen Cemetery, Jim Thorpe.
