Lela J. Carter, 43, of Meeker died Saturday.

She was born Oct. 17, 1959, in Dallas to James and Rosa Carter.

She attended Meeker schools and Carter Seminary in Ardmore.

She was employed at Wolverine.

She was a member of the Sac and Fox Nation.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Carter; a brother, Andrew Carter; and an aunt, Lucille Brown.

Survivors include her children, Tara Carter and Bradlee Carter, both of Meeker; mother, Rosa Carter of Meeker; brothers and sisters, Delores Carter, Maxine Carter, Lois Carter, Letha Carter, Thomas Carter, Frank Carter and Larry Carter, all of Meeker; grandchildren, Darren Carter and Seinna Carter; an aunt, Pauline Johnson of Norman, and numerous other relatives.

Tribal rites will be 6 p.m. at Rosa Lee Carter's home.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Gene Harjo officiating. Burial will follow at Wakolee Cemetery .

Arrangements are under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
