Irma D. White, 76, of Delaware, went home to be with our Lord Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013.

She was born Sept. 16, 1936, to the late Floyd and Mable Russell.

Irma grew up in Delaware where her family attended Troy Chapel church. She graduated from Willis High School in 1954. A loving and devoted mom and grandma, Irma's joy in life came from making others happy. As a stay-at-home mom, she raised her five children in Ashley, Ohio. Later, Irma worked at the Grady Memorial Hospital Cafeteria, where she enjoyed cooking and serving others. She loved gospel, religious hymns, bluegrass, and country music, with Bill Anderson being her favorite. She would play record after record and sing along. Her love for music has been passed on to all of her kids and grandchildren. Irma always loved spending time with her family. During family gatherings she loved making big meals for her brothers, sisters, kids, nieces, nephews, and anyone else who wanted to stop in. Every Christmas Irma would make trays and trays of cookies to pass out to family, friends, and neighbors. Anytime you went to Irma's house she always had her favorite sweets she wanted to share with you, whether it was peanut M&Ms, Necco wafers, black licorice, spiced gumdrops, orange circus peanuts and others. She had such big heart and would do anything for anyone. Everyone who knows Irma will always remember her kindness and her sense of humor.

Irma's memory lives on with her brother, Bob Russell; her children Denny (Cathy) White, Tammy (John) Roberts, Laura Simmering (David Williams), and Larry (Janet) White; her grandchildren Amanda (Miah) Wagner, Jillena Roberts, Nathan (Ashley) Roberts, Julia (David) Ford, Nicholas Roberts, Cheyenne Williams, Brandon White, Kristin White, (Jeffrey and Marie Hale), (Joshua and Tammy Hale), and (Janae Hale); and her great grandchildren Leelah Wagner, Nolyn Roberts, (Raphael Hale), and (Ethan Hale). Irma was preceded in death by her brother Donald Russell, her sisters Ruth Riley, Grace Burdette, Doris Thomas and Donna Rentler, her son Tim White and her son-in-law Marlin Simmering.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for the kindness of the nurses and aids at Willow Brook Christian Village over the past several years.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 28t from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, Delaware with funeral services following at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Ashley Union Cemetery followed by a reception at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center Community Room.
