Jacob was the son of Johannes Jacobus (Pflug) Flook (abt. 1673 Germany - )& Anna Margaretha (Nickelin) Erkuche (dates ukn). Jacob was b. in Schafhausen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. (New info found in: Wuttemberg, Germany, Lutheran Baptisms, Marriages, & Burials, 1500-1985).

His marriage to Barbara (Enhalden)Ehalt is a subject of debate since her birth date is in question. They may have married on 8 May 1726 at Saint James Great Church in Westerleigh, Gloucestershire, England. However other research finds them marrying in Frederick, Frederick, MD in 1742. And still others have them marrying in 1753. He may well have had a first wife that would account for the confusion.

He became a naturalized citizen on 20 Oct 1744 aboard the ship "Phoenix" by Capt. William Willson, which was the custom at the time when the ship landed in America. (US & Canada, Passenger & Immigration Lists Index, 1500x-1900s.)

Jacob served in Capt. Peter Bainbridge's CO. being mustered from Frederick Co., MD in the French & Indiana War (1754-1760).

Jacob & Barbara's children were: Anna Ursula (1744), Anna "Margaret" (1753), John (Johannes) (1756), Sarah Magdalena (1758), John Henry (1759), Jacob John (1760), Anna Barbara (1763), Matthias (1764), Elizabeth (1767), Esther (1771), & John Peter (1774).
