JOHN HENRY BENNINK

John Henry Bennick, the son of John K. Bennink and Gertrude Koffers, was born in Marion County, Iowa, Nov. 14, 1883, and passed away this life at the Still Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, on November 29, 1956, after a short illness. He had attained the age of 73 years and 15 days.

On January 30, 1906, he was united in marriage to Miss Carrie Bogaards of Pella, and on January 30, 1956 of this year Mr. and Mrs. Bennink celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The early home was established in the Peoria community where they lived until retirement in 1949, when they took up residency in Pella at 908 Hazel St. The couple spent 39 years on the same farm, now occupied by son Raymond Bennink.

Born to this union were five daughters and two sons, namely: Mrs. Christina Septer of Newton, Iowa; Mrs. Gertrude Hoffman of Twin Lakes, Minn.; Mrs. Irene Olsthoorn of Taintor; Henry A. Bennink of New Sharon, and Raymond Bennink of Taintor. Surviving his passing are his wife, l4 grand-children and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents, two daughters, Gertrude at the ago of three weeks; Agnes Marie at the age of eight years; five brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren.

Mr. Bennink made confession of his Christ at an early age, joining the Peoria Christian Reformed Church, later transferring his membership to the Pella 2nd Christian Reformed Church when moving to Pella.

Prayer services were held Monday, Dec. 3, 1 p.m. at the Garden Chapel Funeral Home, and 1:30 p.m. at the 2nd Christian Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev L. Van Laar officiating. Interment was made in the Peoria Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers were Mr. Arie W. Ver Dught, Mr. John Van Gorp, Mr. Roy De Bruin, Mr. John Kloosterman, Mr. Wiebe De Vries and Mr. Raymond Boertje.
