Marian went to beauty school and opened a shop in her home. For many years Marian's Beauty Shop was a place to get more beautiful, find a listening ear and make good friends. She loved her work and especially loved the people she served.
In 1961 she married Hal Gamet Wright. Hal had a daughter, Joan, and three sons, Robert, Curtis and Jeff. They combined households and worked hard to raise their blended family. When Marian's health would not allow her to function in the beauty shop any longer, she went to work at the elementary school in Smithfield as a Title I aide, and she loved helping the children learn to read and blossom.
Marian spent many years in service in her Church. She was Primary president, counselor in the Young Women's organization, in stake leadership and held countless other positions.
Hal and Marian loved camping in their trailer. Family members have many fun memories of summer camping trips.
Hal passed away in August 1992.
For the last few years, Marian endured a variety of medical challenges, but she always kept a cheery disposition and positive attitude. Her home was always open to visitors. One could stop in any time and feel welcome. It was a gathering place for fun family events and parties. We would especially like to thank the staffs of Cache Valley Assisted Living, Access Home Health Care, and especially to Xochithl, Vanessa, Lindsey, Morgan and Desa of Caring Hearts Assisted Living for their excellent and loving care of our Mother for the last few months.
She is survived by her daughters, Teana Hillyard, Tamara (Larry) Chambers, Brenda Gardiner; her step-children, Joan (Blaine, deceased) Hansen, Robert (Diane) Wright, Curtis (Susan) Wright, and Jeff (Janette) Wright. She is also survived by her sister, Dixie (Robert) Feenan and sister-in-law, Anna Brough and 20 grandchildren and 36 ½ great-grandchildren.
Viewings are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 85 S. Main, Smithfield, and at 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Smithfield South Stake Center, located at 451 S. 250 East, Smithfield. Services will follow at noon, with Bishop Layne Finlinson presiding.
