Colleen Annette Kroeger Coker, 58, died peacefully Monday, Aug. 19, at her daughter's home in Lake Oswego, Ore. She was born Dec. 13, 1954, in Durango, Colo., the daughter of John and Ruby Kroeger.

Colleen was a wonderful mother and friend, loved by all who knew her. She was known for her generous spirit and kind heart. Colleen enjoyed a strong bond with her children and grandchildren, and considered them the most cherished part of her life.

She graduated from Durango High School and attended Fort Lewis College with a bachelor's degree in geology. Colleen lived in Durango, Colo., Aztec and Farmington, N.M., and Lakeside. In Lakeside, she worked for 23 years at Navopache Electric Cooperative, working in a variety of areas including the engineering department as a GIS specialist. Colleen retired in 2009 and moved to New River to enjoy the sun.

Colleen is survived by two sons: Chad Coker and Chase Coker, both of Arizona; daughter Christa Bracale of Oregon; one sister, Emily Ter Maat; four brothers, Allison (Al) and Dennis Kroeger, Gary and Gene Piatt; the father of her children, Carl Coker; six grandchildren and many other relatives and close friends.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents and sister Patricia Piatt Morris.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive, Durango, Colo. The service will be followed by a private graveside service at the Greenmount Cemetery.
