Donald was the oldest of four children to Leander Nosworthy and Annie L. Duncan. Following his mother's death when he was 12, Donald and his sister, Kathleen went to live with Annie's sister Carrie Duncan, while his brothers, Kenneth and Maurice went to live with Annie's brother, Oscar and his wife Agnes Duncan. He married Carol Eleanor (Beeson) Wanger in 1927 in Santa Ana, CA. He was a resident in Los Angeles, CA on the 1930 census. He married Ruth Frailey and their daughter, Elizabeth was born in 1931. They divorced, then he married Elizabeth Strain in 1933 in Long Beach, CA. Their daughter, Jean Patricia was born in 1934. They divorce shortly after Jean was born and he married a final time to Ruth Calvin and they lived in Dana Point. He always lived near the coast and worked as a skipper on a private yacht. He died in Laguna Beach Nursing Home following a illness with kidney cancer.
