Daughter of George Meister and Shirley Virginia (nee Tucker) Meister. She was born in Cut Bank, Montana on June 13, 1948.

Meister moved with her family to Greeley, Colorado in 1959. She completed secondary education at Greeley Central High School and spent two years studying college coursework at the University of Northern Colorado. After this she went on to spend one year studying at St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

While working in San Francisco, she was introduced to Scientology by acquaintances. She became a member of the crew of the Scientology ship Apollo in February 1971.

She died June 25th, 1971 at age 23 onboard the Scientology ship Apollo while the ship was in the harbor of Safi, Doukkala-Abda, Morocco, North Africa.

Her father flew to Morocco to attempt to find out more information about his daughter's death. He testified about her death before the 1982 City of Clearwater Commission Hearings on Scientology in Clearwater, Florida on the third day of the hearings.

The Church of Scientology buried Susan Meister in Morocco. Her body was exhumed and shipped back to the United States on December 16, 1971, for subsequent burial in Colorado.

The Greeley Daily Tribune reported that she was survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. George Meister from Greeley, Colorado; her sister Mrs. Rick (Robbin) Fritzler who also resided in Greeley, Colorado; and her grandmother Mrs. Carol Tucker from Billings, Montana.

There was a graveside service on December 21, 1971 for Susan Carol Meister at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, Colorado. Arrangements were taken care of by Macy Allnutt Mortuary.
