Edenton - Viola Jane Holmes-Smead, 55, passed away on Monday Feb. 25, 2013. She was a native of Norfolk and retired from NORSHIPCO.
Jane was predeceased by her husband, Mark Smead. She is survived by her parents, Nina and Leo Holmes; children, Lori Lynn Rhoads and husband, Jon, Christopher Shawn Smead and his mate, Megan Langlos; best friend, Charlene (Coco) Derenderger; 3 brothers, Joseph Lloyd Holmes and his wife, Pattie, Leo Joseph Holmes and Frank L. Holmes; 4 grandchildren, Cody M. Wilson, Cristopher Rhoads, Trinity Smead, Ana Marie Rhoads and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel by Rev. Tom Gregory. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Chowan Fellowship Christian Church in Edenton, NC and online condolences may be made at www.lovingfuneralhome.com
