Dorothy “Jean” Adams of Carrollton, Georgia passed on Monday morning, April 13, 2015. Jean was born September 29, 1930, the daughter of the late Carl Eugene Adams and Eula LuJean Webb Adams. She was a Licensed Funeral Director, having worked first with Martin & Hightower Funeral Home and later with Almon Funeral Home, before retiring after 53 years of service to the community. Jean was a longtime member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. She enjoyed a special love of Gospel Music, and enjoyed attending gospel singings all over West Georgia and eastern Alabama. Jean also offered her talents by providing music countless times at funerals, often times as a duet with Mr. Harold McWhorter. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters: Lois Virginia McClendon and Margie Nell Corley; brothers: Marvin Leon Adams and Joseph Ray Adams. Survivors include sisters-in-law: Corine W. Adams of Bowdon and Betty C. Adams of Carrollton; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Gentry and Dr. Charlie Rouse officiating. Music will be rendered by Harold McWhorter with special recorded music by the late Jackie Hightower, Vila Eaves, Jimmy Jones, as well as, special music recorded by Jean, herself. Those serving as pallbearers will be Steve Adams, Don Hall, Bryant Hightower, and Dr. Joe Jellicorse. Seated as honorary escort will be members of the Georgia Funeral Directors Association, Eli Daniel, Rosetta Hall, Ruth Lynn, Russell Lynn, Coleman McClure, Harold McWhorter, Deidra Rouse, Martha Sailors, and Dr. Donna Moses. Interment will follow in the Carrollton City Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or those desiring may make contributions to Tabernacle Baptist Church Building Fund, 150 Tabernacle Drive, Carrollton, GA 30117 or the Heart Center, Tanner Medical Center, 705 Dixie Street, Carrollton, GA 30117. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
