On May 7, 1978, he married Deborah Mickey at Bliedorn. She died on December 20, 2001.
Ken was confirmed and married at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. He farmed in rural Grand Mound, and operated a construction business. He was active in ARC, where he held various offices. In his younger days, he had a pilots license and enjoyed flying. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, water skiing and boating with his family.
Survivors include his parents, Kenneth and Marian Berner, DeWitt; children, Kevin Berner, DeWitt, Pamela (Craig) Anderson, DeWitt, Kimberly (Don) Funke, Clinton, Amanda (Matt) Prachar, Wheatland, Sarah Berner, DeWitt, a son, Kenny Berner, FL, brother, Don (Marty) Berner, Mt. Vernon, and sisters, Judy Witte, Davenport and Joyce (Don) Simmons, DeWitt; grandchildren Cassie, Nicole, Joe, Emily, Samantha, Michael, Kyleigh, James, John and Brayden; four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah and a son.
