Miss Myrtle Lee Cates, 96, of SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation For The Triad died Dec. 11, 2000, at High Point Regional Hospital after declining health of three years.
She was born Oct. 12, 1904, in Hillsborough, a daughter of Emmitt Fletcher and Vivian Lee Hicks Cates. She was last employed at Mann's Drug Store until her retirement in 1965. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Circle #2 and a member of the Congeniality Club, United Methodist Women, a member of the YWCA, the Agenda Club of the YWCA and Friends of the High Point Theatre.
Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Ida Oliver and Mrs. Bessie McCarn, both of High Point and Mrs. Jessie Thompson of Hillsborough; a brother, Eural F. Cates of High Point; and several nieces and nephews.
Private graveside service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery by the Rev. Mark Curtis and the Rev. Lee Pollock. Visitation will be 7-8:30 tonight at Sechrest Funeral Service, 1301 E. Lexington Ave., High Point.
