Mrs. Vera T. Hobbs, 80, of Corpus Christi, mother of former Victoria Mayor R. E. Hobbs Jr., died Monday in a Corpus Christi nursing home following a long illness.
Mrs. Hobbs, a resident of Corpus Christi since 1933, was born in Fairy, Texas and was a former resident of Alice. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Peterson, associate pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Seaside Memorial Park under the direction of Seaside Funeral Home.
Survivors include one other son, Phil B. Hobbs of Corpus Christi, two sisters, Mrs. E. S. Place of Fort Worth and Mrs. Alfred Neumann of Alice; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
